We ensure that Aboriginal offenders in custody have access to correctional and community based programs & services which address their needs in a culturally appropriate manner. We also assist them in working toward a successful re-entry into the community.

The Program Objectives
To advocate and liaise on behalf of Aboriginal inmates with Institution Staff, Probation Services, Parole Services, related Ministries, Community Agencies & Services, and First Nation Communities.
To Provide information to Aboriginal offenders regarding Programs and Services available.
To develop and provide opportunities for Aboriginal inmates to practice and increase their awareness of Aboriginal Culture, Traditions, and Values
To coordinate or facilitate Aboriginal specific programs where appropriate (i.e. solvent abuse, domestic violence, anger management)
To coordinate/ facilitate individual and group counselling.
To encourage and support the involvement of Aboriginal offenders in Aboriginal specific or other institution programs as appropriate
To assist inmates with the development of discharge plans including maintenance or development of linkages with family and support services in the community.
To provide for the participation and involvement of Aboriginal Community Groups and individuals in Institution Programs as appropriate.
To coordinate/ facilitate translation and interpretive services as required.
To consult with the Ministry and Aboriginal Community in providing training on Aboriginal Culture to Institution Staff and, where feasible and appropriate, to Probation and Parole Staff.
