Phone Calls
You may call your lawyer, Probation
Officer or Social Worker, when you request.
These are important people during your stay
and we know you need contact with them.
Phone calls to and from
family members are allowed daily. All other
contacts are to be approved when you are at
the Case Management Plan meeting. Remember
everyone needs and wants these contacts so
Mee-Quam Youth Residence has designated
certain hours for telephone calls. Telephone
calls can be placed or received between the
hours of 2030 – 2200 on weekdays and from
1000 – 2200 on weekends.
Phone calls are to be an
average of 10 minutes to ensure that all
youth get a chance to use the phone.
However, we understand that things may
happen in your life that you may need more
phone time to talk to your family or
significant others and we will do our best
to accommodate you.
Visits
A list of approved
visitors will be confirmed during the Case
Management Plan meeting based on your
specific needs. Your family will be
encouraged to visit, unless there are legal
restrictions preventing such visits. Mee-Quam
Youth Residence can accommodate up to 4
visitors at a time.
Mee-Quam Youth Residence
makes it a priority to ensure that all youth
in the facility have the opportunity for
visits, and arrange the visiting schedule as
such. The length of visits will be
determined in planning for the visit as
sometimes the visit needs to be longer due
to circumstances such as how far the visitor
has traveled from and the purpose. Visits
take place Wednesday evenings from 1800 to
1900 and Saturdays and Sundays 1400 to 1600.
If your family has difficulty with these
times, some special accommodations can be
made, let us know so we can plan.
Visitors are asked not to
bring any food/beverages/tobacco.
Special Events in You Life
