When you display
unacceptable behaviour while in the custody
of Mee-Quam Youth Residence, you can expect
staff to bring it to your attention quickly
but fairly. Stop and think about it!
Planned Ignoring
Some behaviour
will be intentionally ignored by
staff, so you can have the
opportunity to check yourself,
without us having to do it for you
Verbal and Non-Verbal Cueing
If the behaviour
continues anyway, Mee-Quam Youth
Residence staff will cue in on it by
disapproval of it by a verbal
(stating it) or a non-verbal cue (a
disapproving look) that will give
you the message that you better
stop.
Limit Setting
If the behaviour
persists, you will be asked to stop
with a warning. You will then be
given clear consequences of what
will happen if the behaviour does
not stop.
Each situation will be
looked at on an individual basis taking into
account all of the circumstances. It may be
a situation which can be worked out and
easily remedied to everyone’s satisfaction,
or it may be a serious situation, which can
be responded to, with specific and natural
consequences to what happened.
Individualized Program Plan
If we feel that you are
unable to progress within our regular
program and/or your Case Management Plan,
and individualized Program plan will be
developed with you, by staff and approved by
the Supervisor. The facts and circumstances
of your situation will be taken into
consideration when developing the plan. Your
individualized plan will be customized to
your needs to help you achieve goals that
help to encourage your success at Mee-Quam
Youth Residence.
Restitution
While you are at Mee-Quam
Youth Residence, you are expected to pay

cost of the repair. Restitution hours

example, cleaning the house, doing yard
work, painting, etc.
For example, you may also be restricted
