If you feel that you have
been dealt with unfairly while at Mee-quam
Youth Residence, you have the right to say
so. We want you to learn to work out issues
and problems. You always have options to
talk it through with someone.
You need to try first to
work out issues with the staff or the person
you are having difficulty with. If you
cannot do this, then you can talk to your
Prime Worker or Secondary Worker.
If you do not feel this
is possible for whatever reason, then you
speak to the Assistant House Director or the
House Director. It is important that you
understand that there is always someone to
talk to, your responsibility is to present
your issue honestly and maturely so that it
can be worked out. When you do present it to
someone besides the person you have the
issue with, all the facts of the issue will
need to be checked out by the person you
take it to.
If the matter is still
not resolved and you are dissatisfied, you
may refer the matter in writing to the
Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The
Ministry will appoint a person who is not
employed by Mee-Quam Youth Residence to
review the complaint procedures according
the Child and Family Services Act.
At any time, without
having to say why you want to, you can
contact the Advocacy Office by phone
(Advocacy Office phone # is 1-800-263-2841)
or letter.
You may have parent/legal guardian or
legal representation in any step of the
Complaint Procedure.
