Meal time routine: During meals, staff and youth sit down together to have a pleasant meal and conversation. We want no one to be hungry, and serve reasonable portions to all residents. Depending on what is being served, there may be “seconds”. Out of courtesy and respect for our peers, we ask that residents do not commence there chores while others are still at the table finishing their dinner. An acceptable time frame to start your chores would be to dedicate 1700 to 1730 as meal time and 1730 to 1800 as chore time. After the meal is eaten and before anyone goes to their room for personal time, cutlery is accounted for.

Household chores: Mee-Quam Youth Residence expects that everyone take part in keeping the house clean and tidy and in good repair. Chores are divided up equally and posted on the Chore List every Friday. For clarification on how to complete a task, ask staff and/or refer to the postings located in each area. Every resident is responsible for keeping their own bedroom clean and tidy and making their bed daily.

Resident Meetings: Resident Meetings take place on Sundays. This is an opportunity for staff and residents alike to discuss their concerns, issues, schedule of activities for the following weekend, etc. Residents are also given Request Forms which provide the opportunity to make requests for certain activities or items which you may be interested in having at Mee-Quam Youth Residence.
